Learning tango is like learning a new language. And, before we begin to be fluent in a language we must learn its foundations, it basic words, pronunciation and learn to make basic sentences. And, then we can be proficient enough to tell a story . We are creating a comprehensive course structure that will enable passionate learners to reach the heights of personal artistic excellence with this dance, and feel that feeling of Flow.

Tango Foundations I

6 week series, Saturday afternoons, 2:15p

Embark on a captivating dance adventure with this series designed especially for individuals with no prior dance experience or recently minted tango dancers.

And, get ready to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Argentine tango and unlock the secrets of this compelling dance. Combine your learning with a flow concept every week to add another dimension to your learning experience.

Tango Foundations II

Coming back soon!

Move onto the next stage of tango foundations with six new figures that relate to and build upon the ones covered in Tango Foundations - I. During this series great care and emphasis will be given to mastering of the basics and finding the natural flow of your dance.

Gain a deeper understanding of the psychological state of Flow by learning and applying concepts from Japanese aesthetics and Daoist philosophy from ancient China.

Tango Foundations III

6 week series, Saturday afternoons, 3:45p

Advance to the final stage of Tango Foundations. Throughout this series, our focus is on dynamism and creativity in tango by developing existing figures and introducing new ones.

We will further develop our understanding of the flow state with six new Flow Concepts from modern science and psychology, emphasising integration, creativity, and the synergy of the left and right brain.

Tango Foundations - II is optional to take this series, Tango Foundations - I is required.

Right after immersing yourself in the lessons, the Tea and Tango Practica offers you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of this passionate dance while enjoying the distinct pleasures of puerh tea.

Puerh tea, known for its rich and complex flavors, will tantalize your taste buds as you sip and savor its earthy notes. Beyond its delectable taste, puerh tea is celebrated for its potential health benefits, including aiding digestion and promoting relaxation – a perfect complement to the graceful tango movements you'll be practicing, and, not to forget, also to, making new friends!

Tango Stories

Claudio Ortega, the Tango Singer of the Bay Area, is a native and transplant of Buenos Aires. He is known in the tango community for his warm and deep voice and the ability to connect emotionally with his audience.

Seth Asarnow, a native of the Bay Area, is among the finest tango musicians. Excelling in both piano and bandoneón, he has a repertoire consisting of hundreds of tangos. He has composed film scores, has played film soundtracks, and works regularly with some of the best tango dancers in the world.
