An Introduction
Time: 3:45 to 5:00 PM
Date: July 12th & July 19th
Venue: 1680 Bryant St, Palo Alto
Milonga is a lively style of tango music and a social dance known for its rhythmic, playful energy. Faster than traditional tango, it features quick footwork, steady beats, and a joyful spirit—making it a fun, improvisational experience on the dance floor.
July 12th, 3:45 - 5:00p
In our first session, we’ll ease into the joyful rhythm of Milonga—a dance that moves faster than tango and invites a light, grounded feel. We’ll play with simple patterns like the Baldosa Box, Progressive Basic, and Forward Ochos, all adapted to the steady, bouncy beat of the habanera rhythm. It’s all about getting comfortable with the music, staying connected, and having fun with movement.
July 19th, 3:45 - 5:00p
In the second session, we’ll bring more play into the dance. Backward Ochos make an appearance, and we’ll explore traspié—those fun little double steps that give Milonga its spark. We’ll start mixing and matching the figures, dancing with the music rather than just to it. Expect laughter, musical surprises, and plenty of room to find your own rhythm.
Karn, founder of Feeling Flow, began dancing at age 7, inspired by Michael Jackson’s Dangerous, and later trained in over a dozen forms including Salsa, Bachata, and Argentine tango. Since 2015, his tango journey has been shaped by masters like Pablo Verón and Richard Powers. A seasoned teacher and performer, Karn weaves meditation into his work, fostering authenticity and presence. Through Feeling Flow, he is growing a vibrant community of dancers and artists—hosting a thriving live music scene, alumni workshops for MIT-CNC and Stanford, and the Bay Area Maestros series hosting the region’s most experienced tango teachers.
