Flow Concept: Integration
A milonga is a social gathering where people come to dance tango. It's a space where tango dancers of all levels meet to enjoy the music and the social aspects of the dance. Milongas typically follow a structured format, with songs played in sets called "tandas," and between each tanda, there’s a short musical break known as the "cortina," allowing dancers to change partners or take a break.
Alternate Friday evenings, 8:30 to 11:00 pm
Join us for West Side Milonga, hosted every other Friday at Raízes do Brasil. Our carefully curated music blends the modern energy of Nuevo and alternative tunes with timeless golden-age tango classics. Dancers of all levels are warmly invited to experience an evening of connection and artistry on the dance floor

Last night, I sang your praises to Scott Gamble. In the 12 years I've been taking classes at FNW, you're the best instructor we have had in Argentine tango. It is a daunting, difficult, stylized dance, but you made it easy and fun to learn. In just two hours, you deftly and with appropriate pacing broke down the elements and showed us how to combine them into the basic steps. And voila we could dance!
Karn's approach to tango is deeply centered on fostering a connection and fluidity between partners, rather than flashy steps. He prioritizes the essence of tango dancing, emphasising connection above all else. If you resonate with this philosophy, Karn is the perfect instructor for you. Karn truly grasps the paramount importance of live music in his unwavering pursuit of preserving and teaching the tango culture. He stands as one of its foremost ambassadors in the Bay Area.
